FIFA president Gianni Infantino has called for Italian authorities to honour the legacy of Paolo Rossi by naming the Stadio Olimpico after the former forward.

Rossi scored six goals to claim the Golden Boot and Golden Ball as Italy lifted the 1982 World Cup, while he was awarded the Ballon d Or in the same year – the only player to win all four trophies in the same year.

Manchester City youngster Emyr Huws has signed a new two-year deal with the club and joined Wigan Athletic on loan until January.

The Wales international has impressed during loan spells at Northampton Town and Birmingham City over the past two seasons and has now secured his future at the Etihad Stadium until 2016.

Muller-Wohlfahrt, the doctor for the German national team, is renowned as a world leader in the treatment of sports injuries.

In explaining his decision to leave Bayern, he suggested his medical department had been blamed for the club s 3-1 UEFA Champions League loss to Porto on Wednesday, which came with a host of Pep Guardiola s star players absent through injury.
